Behold the Reigning Lamb

Behold the Reigning Lamb: Living for Christ Counter-Culturally - The reign of Christ is met with rebellion and resistance at every turn. The Lamb’s followers also meet that resistance and rebellion in the culture in which they live as they are bombarded with temptations and vain philosophies that undermine the exclusivity of Christ. The reigning Lamb calls his followers to bring every thought, word and action captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Cor. 10:5), which will be reflected in growing in a life of leadership for Christ in our culture.

Behold the Worthy Lamb! - Christ the Lamb is returning, and we will then appear before the throne of the Lamb. Will we behold Him in his splendor and know the joy of being in the presence of the worthy Lamb forever (Rev. 5:11-14, 19:9), or be subject to his wrath and fury forever (Rev. 14:10)?

Behold the Suffering Lamb

Behold the Suffering Lamb: Bruised and Forsaken - The sufferings of Christ are prophesied in Isaiah 53 and fulfilled at Gethsemane, Gabbatha, and Golgotha. As the Lamb, Jesus endured the staggering depths of physical, emotional and spiritual suffering highlighting the enormity of sin. The wrath of God crushed and bruised Him so that He cried out at the height of His suffering, “My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?” How do you behold the suffering Lamb?

Behold the Servant Lamb: Living a Servant Life for Christ - Jesus did not only give Himself to redeem from sin, but also provides an example for the redeemed by which to live. John 13 portrays Jesus as a humble, servant Lamb as He washes the disciples’ feet. He provides the power and the pattern to live a humble, sacrificial and serving life in our relationships with parents, siblings, friends, and peers.

Behold the Revealed Lamb: Come and See - John the Baptist points to the Lamb of God to offer hope for sinners and gives a model so that we can point others to Jesus. But before that, it is necessary to behold the Lamb of God with faith for the bearing of your sin. And as He speaks, we are called to follow Him in love and devotion and learn of Him. What are you looking for? Jesus answers with an authoritative yet winsome invitation: “Come and see.”

Behold the Substitute Lamb: God Will Provide Himself a Lamb - The whole scene is a picture of justification, and a glorious picture of the gospel of substitutionary atonement. Here is demonstrated the aspects of faith in the Lamb that God has provided in His own Son. God provides the answer to the dilemma of Abraham’s faith where providence seems to contradict the promise.
