The Natural Man — Morally and Spiritually Depraved

We welcome Bro. Earnie W. Lucas of Appomattox VA to the ROLFE BARNARD LIBRARY page at SermonAudio. He has preached in many conferences in the Carolinas, and is one of the many men who were deeply influenced by the God-honoring ministry of Evangelist Rolfe Barnard. What is the condition of the natural man? Is he able by religion to win his way back to God? What is Biblical salvation for such a poor wretched man? Here is a good message, a real primer on the condition of fallen man in his TOTAL DEPRAVITY and SPIRITUAL INABILITY.

The Effectual Call

Here we come to the APPLICATION of God's purpose in salvation — when the individual elected & redeemed sinner is laid hold of by the Third Person of the Trinity and brought into the fold. Oh, how wonderful it is to know that my salvation is ALL OF GOD and BECAUSE OF HIS AMAZING GRACE ALONE! Hear Bro. Lucas here and rejoice again in God's precious Gospel truths. NOTE: We regret that some interference (from a machine or something) got in on the line when this was recorded. We have softened but not been able fully to eliminate the interference. BEAR WITH THIS, for the sermon is worthy of attention!

Perseverance

God's people who are elected by God the Father, and definitely redeemed by the Blood of Christ the Son, and effectually called by the Holy Spirit — you can believe this: They'll hold fast and persevere until the end "for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure" (Phil. 2:12-13). AMEN!

5 Points of Calvinism

THE FIVE POINTS OF CALVINISM! What great theological debates — some bitter and very harsh — have been entered into about these points of evangelical faith! Most evangelicals, however, have held to them through the centuries — the great preachers: Edwards, Whitefield, Spurgeon, Gill, B. H. Carroll, Dr. Lloyd-Jones, Rolfe Barnard, etal. The writers of lasting commentaries, sermons and devotionals: Arthur Pink, Bonar, Calvin, Luther, Owen, Baxter, Goodwin, Ryle, Barnhouse, etal. Here in his simple, direct manner, Bro. Earnie Lucas brings us an introduction to these great truths. What are these truths saying? They speak with one voice and proclaim "THE SALVATION OF SINNERS IS GOD'S WORK AND NOT MAN'S!" Amen. Listen carefully. NOTE: In places, near the end, the tape we were copying tended to run too fast or too slow ... but you can hear the whole message.

Atonement or Particular Redemption

In the well-known acrostic for the doctrines known as "The Five Points of Calvinism" or "Doctrines of Grace," PARTICULAR REDEMPTION holds the central place. Notice: T - Total depravity and spiritual inability. U - Unconditional Election L - Limited Atonement or Particular, Definite Redemption of God's elect. I - Irrisistible Grace or the Effectual Call of the Spirit P - Perseverance and Preservation of the redeemed elect of God. Hear Bro. Lucas in his simple, Biblical manner on this cardinal point — perhaps the most hated of all the doctrinal points of the SOVEREIGN, SAVING GRACE OF GOD. Christ died for those given Him by the Father — in other words "the sheep" (John 10:11), those who were "given HIM of the Father" (John 17:12), the "many" (Mat. 20:28; 26:28), the "predestinated" (Eph. 1:5-12). Praise God that my Lord came to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10) — and everyone He seeks He also "justifies" — for He certainly DID actually "bear their inquities" (Isa. 53:10-11). Amen.

The Doctrines of Grace

We have acquired several sermons by Bro. Earnie W. Lucas, wherein he preaches the various particulars of Calvinism (T.U.L.I.P) — also known as "the doctrines of grace." These were preached at different times but are collected in this very powerful and valuable series for our ROLFE BARNARD LIBRARY listeners. May God bless as you hear these messages by a humble, faithful servant of Christ still living and preaching in Appomattox VA. Hear him, and her him well. Also recommend and/or copy and share these sermons!
