Opening Gentile Eyes

The conversion of Saul of Tarsus, who became known as Paul the apostle, is recorded three times in Acts. The information is unique to each presentation. One consistent matter is God's sovereign choice of Paul and his appointment to the Gentiles. This message examines the Lord's reference to Isaiah in calling Saul. God's purpose remains to open the spiritual eyes of His elect among all people. Being a Gentile, I'm forever grateful.

The True Bread from Heaven

God fed the Hebrew nation for forty years with bread from heaven. They were well-nourished. They knew it was from God. It was all they had. Yet, they weren't satisfied. They ceaselessly complained calling it light bread and asking what is it? They went so far as to say they loathed it. Jesus used the bread as a type of Himself. The rejection and loathing their forefathers felt for the bread His contemporaries felt for Him.

Must Yet Be Accomplished

Jesus is hours before His surrender to wicked hands, imprisonment, ill-treatment, false accusers and the Cross. He looked to the writing at the hand of Isaiah to declare this present truth. Isaiah 53 sounds like the suffering has already occurred. Jesus said, this must yet be accomplished in me. Jesus spoke of His work to obey unto death. By His blood and earned righteousness, God was satisfied and His people justified. Read Isaiah 53.

Jesus declared the prophecy in Zechariah 13:7 speaks of Him. God the Father is the speaker. God the Son is His object. The "sword" smote Jesus from His cradle to HIs Cross. Swords are for one thing, to kill. Jesus gave His life's blood to fulfill the will of the Father, satisfy justice, to substitute Himself for God's elect and save them from sin and for eternity. He suffered unto death to earn righteousness, thereby justifying those given to Him.

Jesus referred to the Old Testament many times. He did so to instruct His hearers. Also, the scriptures supported, illustrated and defended His message. Today, we find a most enlightening reference. Teaching the Parable of the Sower and the Seed, Jesus referred to Isaiah 6:9-10. This verse also appears in Mark, Luke, John and Acts. The passage asserts God's sovereignty, the definiteness of the Gospel and Jesus' reason for using parables.

Jesus Eminent Conclusion

Jesus thought with a clear mind as he approached the passion of the Cross. He knew the addressee of His prayer - the Father. He knew the objects of His prayer - those given to Him by the Father. Jesus called His co-equal in heaven Father speaking of relationship. He called Him Holy Father speaking of His work in sanctification. Here, Jesus called Him "Righteous Father" speaking of His judgment.

What a mysterious and wonderful passage is found at the conclusion of Jesus' prayer. We find truth about our unity, God's glory and the completeness of Christ's work. In addition, Jesus declared that the Father loved the ones He chose and gave to Christ as He loved His Co-Equal, the Son. These truths encourage God's people to lay hold of the freeness of grace, the perfection of justice and the certainty of hope.

Jesus pointed squarely at the ones the Father gave Him by sovereign election. On their behalf, He petitioned HIs Holy and Righteous Father (V11, 25) to sanctify them. Sanctification is a person or thing God sets apart and declares to be holy. God's elect are no more holy in themselves than the worst of sinners, yet they are sanctified. Here, they are set apart and preserved for faith and service to God. His prayer and God's keeping are our hope.

Jesus' petition permits us to see HIs high regard for His disciples. He is at the point of leaving them. His heart is exposed. These are utterances of everlasting love. The intensity of His affection for the eleven and for those to follow appears in every line. He prayed for their oneness, their joy and now their protection from the evil one, Satan. He used the word "keep" or guard. From the first fall, Satan has been our enemy. This sure petition is our hope.

The Unity of the Faith

Jesus' petition to the Father on behalf of those chosen and given to Him began with a plea for oneness. This includes doctrinal and spiritual unity. Oneness is spoken of in many places. This message explores the perfect blend of the two in Ephesians 4:1-16. The apostle Paul began the chapter imploring his readers to walk in humility of mind and with a patient disposition. If they mixed that with love, the oneness would surely follow.

Jesus continued bringing His petitions to the Father. On behalf of His disciples, Jesus requested unity. He said, that they may be one as we [are one]. This message explores doctrinal and brotherly unity. In heaven, between the three Persons of the Godhead, there abides perfect and eternal unity. Jesus was sending His disciples into a world of conflict. As heaven is settled on the Gospel, likewise may the Lord's people have one heart and mind.

But the Son of Perdition

As Jesus prayed, He spoke of God's preservation of His chosen ones; then of their perseverance; then of Judas Iscariot and perdition. That awful word means full destruction. Judas was appointed to that end yet he was fully accountable for his dark actions. John and Mark give vivid records of his anger, hypocrisy, irreverence, thirst for power and rejection of Christ. Before us is the balance of God's sovereignty and man's fallen will.a

Jesus used the common word world in this chapter to speak of the created, the unredeemed and the redeemed world. Emphatically, Jesus declared His petition for the ones the holy and heavenly Father gave Him. In turn, He equally made this startling statement: I pray not for the world. These are the ones not given Him by the Father. Again, Jesus pivoted to affirm His petition as stated. They are the Father's by election and Jesus' by redemption.

We see the Lord's fourth petition: glorify thou me with thine own self. That is a mysterious request. Only God fully understands. We know from verse four Christ the Son glorified the Father by His saving work on the earth. In verse five, Jesus added to the mystery, which I had with thee before the world was. We can say: the triune Godhead enjoyed eternal fellowship, dominion and love. Jesus looked to return to that most blessed state.

As Many As

Jesus made a simple statement declaring God's sovereign grace. Having eternal life is not by a deed or decision. Jesus didn't provide an opportunity or give an invitation. It's easy to see eternal life comes by God's election and predestination, Christ's definite redemption and the Spirit's efficacious call. The little phrase -as many as- identifies who the Father gave Him and for whom He came. He gives them eternal life and withholds it from the rest.

The Hour Has Come

Beginning with the wedding in Cana, Jesus declared "mine hour is not yet come". Then, six days before His final Passover, trial and crucifixion Jesus announced "The hour is come". John repeated that in John 13:1. Then, Jesus said it as He prayed. What was the "hour"? Jesus referred to His obedience unto death and the Cross. Without it there is no remission of sin; by it, the sins of God's elect were fully remitted.

This message explores the use of God's three names: Elohim, Jehovah and Adonai. It goes to Genesis 1 and gives a brief overview of the development and use of the names. Though translated from Hebrew to Greek, the meaning and spirit of the names are in the New Testament. Studying the names confirms God is three-in-one, equal in attributes, the same in essence yet distinct in person. Our text sees God the Father communing with God the Son.

Jesus' discourse in chapters 14-16 concludes in a wonderful way. He encouraged His Disciples, saying "be of good cheer". Jesus always has a good word for His people. He anticipated His suffering unto death and HIs victory over sin for them as their Substitute. Then, He turned His eyes toward heaven. With death looming, how can Jesus give a good word? He knows His work and prayer are efficacious. He cannot fail; His elect cannot be lost.

Our series, "Sayings of the Savior", turns to the Lord's prayer in John 17. It is the greatest prayer to ever be uttered. As bystanders, we are enabled to eavesdrop into the relationship between the three Persons of the Godhead. Jesus called Him "Father" and Himself He called "thy Son". The eternal, immutable and mutual love of God for God is imminently displayed in this wonderful prayer.

Jesus used strong yet tender names for His people. One such name was "The Many". Sometimes He used the article of designation. Always, He referred to a definite people. In Matthew 20:28, Jesus declared He came to pay their ransom price and redeem them. Mark recorded Jesus saying, "my blood...is shed for [the] many" (14:24). Jesus prayed to the Father saying He gave "eternal life to as many as you have given me" (John 17:2).

The psalmist said, "we are his people and the sheep of his pasture" (Psalm 100:3). This message answers the question: what did Jesus call His people? He named them His church, sheep, flock, children and the elect of God. His people were given to Him by the Father (John 17:2). By His obedience unto death on the Cross, He saved, redeemed and justified them. He exclusively loved and prayed for them (John 17:9).

Revelation is the final recorded self-disclosure of God to man. It is the revelation of the Redeemer, Jesus Christ. The final ten verses are the conclusion to the Revelation and to the Bible. The Lord's angel has been speaking but the Lord's voice reappears. This is the greatest of all messages delivered anywhere and at any time. It begins with a word from the greatest Sovereign in the universe. It concludes with the greatest assurance, "I come quickly".

These verses begin the closing passage of Revelation and of the sixty-six books called The Bible. God's angel is still speaking to John and said: "These Sayings are Faithful and True". This must be said of the whole Bible. Whether I understand it or not, it remains a decided fact. Furthermore, the man or woman who so believes and mediates upon God's word is blessed, the angel said.

The Song of Solomon or Song of Songs, inspired by the Holy Spirit came by the hand of King Solomon. It tells of the beauties of Christ. It has two principal characters: the groom, a type of Christ and the bride, a type of the church. She is describing the superiority and dignity of the one she loves. It is a picture of Christ. She can't help but exclaim "He is Altogether Lovely". As she brags on her love, so we brag on Christ. What a Savior!

The guiding angel led John the apostle from the exterior of the New Heaven to the interior. The first five verses are part of the vision beginning in 21:9. Here, we see a river, a tree, a throne and God's servants. We are given good news: "there shall be no more curse". Symbolically, we see God the Holy Spirit, the Son and the Father. The Bible has come full circle from the first Garden of Eden to the final one which shall be "forever and ever".

God's chosen angel revealed to John the apostle fourteen truths regarding what will not be in the New Heaven. An essential truth which reaches from Genesis to Revelation regards the "curse". In the Old Testament, the curse entered when Adam disobeyed God and when enunciated in the Law given to Moses. The Gospel declares, in behalf of God's elect, Christ "became a curse for us" (Galatians 3:13). That is redemption, justification and salvation by God's graciously provided Substitute. Yet, the unredeemed and creation remains under that original curse. In the new creation the "curse" no longer exists.

This text is a picture of the church in glory. John, the apostle, was called by God's powerful and faithful angel to a heavenly vision. The church is called "the bride" and "the Lamb's wife". She was presented to Christ at the Cross and there the marriage union was consummated. She is also called "the great city" and "the holy Jerusalem". No city on earth compares to her. Holy is so ascribed because all sin, depravity and apostasy are gone.

A reading of John's letters shows he preached a clear message of Christ's death, faced much opposition and saw many fall into apostasy. This verse concerns them. He had set forth a most hopeful and encouraging set of truths for the Lord's redeemed. Then, he said "But" and gave one concise verse setting forth the horrors facing the rest. He called their judgment "the second death". They will be forever separated from good, grace and God.

This text is one of the most relevant and poignant statements in human language. Mediation upon it yields both great pathos and hope. What John saw and heard one preacher called "super-earthly language". He described the perfect place and impeccable human experience. At best, we partially enter this state. He described the anguishes of life gone, then Christ said, "I make all things new". Wow! What hopefulness that gives believers of every age.

Satan, reprobate men, sin, the cursed earth and first heaven will be gone. God will create and send the New Heaven and New Earth. All will be radically different. Chapters 21 and 22 declare at least ten irreversible distinctions. God's elect in their resurrected and glorified bodies will have a new environment, new food and new worship. The curse of sin and the Law are gone. God's salvation and presence will be fully known.

Presently, the believer enjoys forgiveness, peace, love, hope, assurance and much more. Yet, the Scriptures declare what is infinitely better is yet to come. When Adam sinned, God imputed it to man and creation. Together, the two groan and travail looking forward to the New Heaven and Earth. Along with those redeemed by blood will be "the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb".

The first twenty chapters of Revelation provide pictures of Christ and His church militant on earth. The last two chapters provide pictures of Christ and His church triumphant in heaven. The present heaven and the earth will be dissolved with a fervent heat. This cataclysmic event It will not result from warring nations or powerful bombs but from the will and work of God. It's predestined!

It seems, children come into the world asking questions. Is it any different with the children of God? The apostle Paul said we "see through a glass darkly", referring to a blurry mirror. Many questions will not be answered this side of heaven. God's people don't stumble over unanswered questions, they look to Christ. Paul urged the questioning Corinthians, "Awake to righteousness".

When Lazarus died the angels carried him to Abraham's bosom. Only the elect, like Abraham will be there. And, it is a veiled way of speaking of heaven. The "rich man" typifies false religion generally and corrupt Judaism particularly. He had no heart for heaven in this life and no place in the next life. The message also explores the resurrection of God's elect. They are called "the just". These two truths give great assurance to the Lord's people.

Who is going to heaven? All without exception of any? Or, all who keep God's Law? Or, all who decide to accept Jesus as Savior? Or, all who make a sincere effort to please God? Or, all who all who are baptized, repent and believe? Or, is going to heaven determined in an altogether different way? It's the latter. The Scriptures teach heaven is a place for God's justified and forgiven elect. Both are exclusively in God's Hands.

Time on earth has a mixture of joy and sadness. Not heaven. Joy will rule every thought. God's elect will rejoice in the presence of angels over the ones who have repented. No name will be too small. God's grace will be magnified. When the redeemed son returned home, his loving father said, "let us...be merry". Presently, we know a little joy but in the glorified body, joy will be persistent, overwhelming, all-consuming and God-honoring.

Angels are God's creation. Their purpose is to guard heaven, holy things, God's elect and to serve God. They were created therefore lower than Christ but higher than man. Their power is great but not greater than that of Jehovah. A legion of angels, led by Lucifer who became Satan, rebelled against God and heaven. God kept a faithful host the apostle called "the elect angels".

God's elect angels are those He preserved in faithfulness. They are observed worshiping God, mediating the Law to Moses and attending to the Lord's people. They preserved Daniel in prison and opened the prison door for Peter. They rejoice at the conversion of God's elect yet can't fully understand. At the empty tomb of the Lord they gave a wonderful message.

God rules in heaven and earth, not in part and not at times but in all things and at all times. From His throne in heaven He rules the created world and the world of men. Men of the Old and New Testament testify to believing in God's absolute and sovereign dominion. It's a fearful and detestable thing to those in free-will Christendom. It's the source of comfort to those resting in God's Sovereign Grace.

Heaven isn't an after-thought with God. And, heaven isn't a fictitious place in a philosophical-theological scheme. Heaven is a real place. It is on God's Map. We don't have the Map and we only have glimpses within the place. We know, heaven is God's abiding place. Paul called it the "third heaven". The Psalmist called it "his holy heaven". From there, He executes His purposes and His will.

The Disciples had numerous reasons to be teetering on the brink of spiritual exhaustion and psychological depression. Understanding that, the Lord provided them a lengthy discourse of encouragement. He began with pointing them to the assuring hope of heaven. He provided seven truths in the first three verses. In the last of these He told them heaven is where He would be. Beloved, that's what makes heaven to be heaven.

Apostasy means to depart. In the Scriptures it's to depart the faith. That is, the one, settled body of truth of which Christ is author and subject. What the Lord prophesied Peter said is fulfilled. It took a mere forty years, one generation. There is a greater judgment on knowing the way of righteousness earned by Christ and imputed by God at the Cross then departing, than not knowing. What is best is knowing and abiding faithful.

Jesus' reference to "virgin" is a parabolic way of speaking of religion. Each potential bride had a lamp but only a portion had oil, which represents the Holy Spirit. Those without represent national Israel. Their religion had developed and flourished but it was without spiritual awakening and revelation. Therefore, they were foolish, ignorant of God's righteousness and salvation.

Two kinds of men are here: the believing and the unbelieving. The emphasis is on the latter. He represents National Israel. In the parable, Israel is given less in order to make it easier but due to their wrong view of God and salvation they failed. They put their money in the ground, representing natural religion. They mixed grace and works. The end was disaster. Their blessing and place was taken from them.

The best religious minds in Jerusalem tried to entangle Jesus with their questions. They had worked on others but not on Him. He flipped the condemning questions asking them counter-questions, quoting scriptures and giving probing parables. In the end, they determined He condemned them. They were correct. His wisdom was from heaven, theirs from other men.

Jesus spoke on Tuesday of His final earthly Passover Week. He was questioned by religious authorities from the Sanhedrin Court. They asked Him questions to "entangle" or trap Him. They hoped Jesus would misspeak and they could accuse Him before Herod of the Jews or Pilate of the Romans. Jesus will reveal the nation is completely corrupt and is headed for final and irreversible judgment.

Jesus closed the sixth chapter exhorting, "Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness". He had revealed the corruption of man's religious righteousness by referring to giving, praying, fasting and serving. He closed by urging His disciples with a strong imperative, "seek ye first". That is continuously, presently and urgently. Don't follow man's righteousness!

Seeing the Old Testament with New Testament eyes is critical to understanding the Gospel. In this division of Romans, Paul is defending justification at, by and in connection with the Cross as a sovereign act of God. He turned to the OT to illustrate the truth. He quoted from Exodus 9 and 33. Clearly by God's own choice, Moses was an object of mercy while Pharaoh is an object of hardening judgment.

The Work of Christ wasn't partial or incomplete but absolute and complete. His obedience unto death didn't form a ground for justification, no it was an actual justification. He didn't win an opportunity left to man to complete. He actually and truly saved. His death was the death of death. The angel foretold it at birth - "He shall save His people from their sins". Jesus declared it from the Cross - "It is Finished". That is salvation from sin.

Jesus followed the great pattern of the prophesied. They and then He declared the completeness of His saving and justifying obedience unto death. His ransom price earned more than redemption, He truly redeemed. Likewise, by obeying the Law in life and enduring its penalties in death He earned righteousness that was more than justification it truly justified. He could only announce "it is finished" because He had saved, forgiven, redeemed and justified.

The Jews hated anyone not their kind. They regarded the Gentiles with disgust and disdain. Christ prophesied: Paul was a chosen vessel "to bear my name before the Gentiles". This making both one came with inevitable conflict. Turning their disunity into unity, their spite into love came with great trials. Failure to grasp the gravity of this conflict has helped lead to the misunderstanding of what is meant by "whosoever".

Jesus began His prophecies by declaring His fulfillment of righteousness. He illustrated how He would fulfill it, by death shown by His baptism unto death. An important prophecy following that is His prophecy of the inclusion of Gentiles. The Jews believed they were exclusively chosen by God. Jesus quoted from Isaiah saying, "in his name shall the Gentiles trust". When the NT says, "whosoever" it means, Jews and Gentiles.

Moses, about 15 centuries before Christ's advent, declared God would raise up a prophet. Yes, a special prophet. Peter understood this referred to Christ. Many titles are given to Christ. He is creator, king, high priest, redeemer, savior, God in flesh and yes, prophet. As God's chief prophet, He delivered God's word as none before and none after Him. This prophet did what none before Him could do. He fulfilled prophecies and became the sinner's substitute.

Prophets were emissaries of God. They were a part of God's eternal and wise decrees. Beginning with Moses through Malachi they foreshadowed Christ. He is the Prophet of Prophets. The spirit of prophecy resides in Him. He spoke with authority because He spoke God's words. As God's prophet, He gave Himself to be persecuted and slain to complete the eternally ordered redemption.

If Jesus comes to you, He'll bring a good word. I like the sound of that. The entire Gospel of Luke is the text. From His first step into the Nazareth synagogue in the fourth chapter to His ascension in the last chapter, Jesus brings a good word. The Gospel is a good word. It tells of sin for definite sinners effectually put away at the Cross of Christ. It declares them saved, redeemed and justified. It's a good word to him with a hearing ear.

Jesus arrived at the conclusion of His Sermon on the Mount. He gave a parallel illustration of two men. One built upon sand. One built upon rock. The first represents natural religion, self-justification and the Pharisees. The second represents the man who hungers for and seeks God's righteousness (5:6; 6:33). He rests upon the rock, which is Christ and His doctrine.

He declared, "I never knew you". He didn't know them in election before the foundation of the world, in redemption at the Cross, by the effectual call in time or in final glorification at the end of the age. Since He didn't know them, they can't know Him.

In chapter six, Jesus declared giving, praying, fasting and serving, to be spiritual pursuits. Thus, they cannot be related to man's righteousness but "God's righteousness" (6:33). He gave a warning to begin chapter six then He returned with another to begin chapter seven. Self produced and practiced righteousness makes one judgmental. God's righteousness makes one gracious.

Jesus continued drawing sharp contrasts between "your righteousness" (verse one) and "his righteousness" (verse 33). After speaking of their pretentiousness in giving alms, He turned to their hypocrisy in prayer. Two key truths stand out. First, prayer is done secretly and therefore from the heart. Next, prayer is full of humility and forgiveness.

The contrast between "your righteousness" (6:1) and "his righteousness" (6:33) provided Jesus the opportunity to identify two cornerstones of self-righteousness: giving and praying. The danger of hypocrisy is the hypocrite doesn't know it. Self-righteousness is highly deceptive. He gave a model prayer but even that has been ritualized and become a vain repetition.

Jesus identified broken Commandments. He referred to the Commandments concerning murder, then adultery, then idolatry. In the latter one, without direct reference, He included the 2nd and 3rd Commandments. Failure to give a true confession "cometh of evil" or the Evil One, Satan. He exhorted, "let your communication" or confession be consistent with the truth.

The priests of the Jews wanted an assertion of Jesus' guilt attached to the Cross. The Roman governor, Pilate gave them a title: "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews". By so doing, he denied Jesus' guilt and turned the argument against the petty priests. Perhaps the greatest declaration of Jesus as King comes in Revelation 15:3. It calls Him, "King of Saints". Righteousness declared made God's elect to be saints.

Jesus encouraged His eleven faithful men to not yield to troubled and fearful hearts. He provided an antidote to the common malady. Here it is: Have faith in Christ, Be assured heaven awaits God's chosen ones, Look to the work fulfilled by Christ and His Cross, finally, Be encouraged because He will come again. He encouraged them as us, look away from self and circumstances. Look to Him.

In most Jewish communities, a commonly-held and walled area existed for the sheep. They grazed under the shepherd's care during the day and were in the pen at night. The pen had two doors: a short one for the sheep and a higher one for the shepherds. The sheep knew their door and their shepherd. Christ used this for a parable. He declared Himself to be the only way out of Judaism and into heaven.

In this passage, one finds words of comfort and conflict. Jesus condemned the religious leaders as a "thief, a "wolf" and a "hireling". He said they "steal", "kill", "destroy" and "scatter" the sheep. In this chaos, Jesus entered as "the good shepherd" to "give his life for the sheep". Elect Jews and Gentiles He said, "I must bring". So effectual is He, that they "shall never perish" or be pulled from His hand.

John said his Gospel was written that "ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God" (John 20:31). Coursing the pages of this wonderful Gospel are Jesus' claims, declaring "I Am". The present text, referred to Jehovah's words to Moses in Exodus 3:14. Jesus declared Himself the self-existent One, the Being of Beings. He claimed to be the eternal and immutable, faithful and powerful One.

God's elect need not fear. They hear, believe, worship and walk according to the Gospel of God's free grace. Those who hear, then turn away, have reason for great fear. They face not a cold set of Jewish statutes, nor a lifeless number of Greek deities. Rather, they will face "the living God". He knows the thoughts and intents of the heart. He knows every reservation and rejection of the Gospel.

Jesus Came to Call Sinners

For our first hour of worship, Pastor David Simpson preached the Gospel from Luke 5:1-39 identifying who the Lord Jesus came to save and whom He didn’t. The Word of God says that the Lord came to call sinners unto salvation and not the righteous. So, clearly, the sovereignty of God chooses/elected to call ONLY the sinners having left alone the righteous to themselves. Pastor Simpson preached how Christ came to save Biblical sinners and save His chosen elect. If a man believes there is one thing within himself that could save himself than he is not a sinner as described by the Word of God, and can neither be a Biblical believer.

The first wine typified the law in Judaism. The "god wine" symbolized Christ and His gospel. Its abundance declared the completeness of Christ's saving efficacy. The wondrous miracle, John said, "manifested forth His glory". As Jesus began at a wedding, He will receive His bride at the "marriage of the Lamb" (Revelations 19:7). Between, He earned righteousness and redeemed His people.

Sovereignty is God's authority and dominion over all things in heaven and earth, the skies and the seas, things celestial and terrestrial, things animate and inanimate, first causes and secondary means, heaven and hell, redemption and perdition. By God-given faith, the Roman Centurion knew this about Jesus. The Lord confirmed his assertion and moved the discussion to His sovereignty in salvation.

If leprosy is a picture of the corruption and depravity of sinful man, paralysis is a type of the helplessness and spiritual inability of sinners.
The words of Jesus speak of The parable of the lost son in Luke 15. For our first hour of worship, we considered the parable of the lost son; how God brought him to the place of revelation and repentance. We see the contrast of free-will religion from demanding what God should do or will do for us and the humility of a true Biblical sinner and a true Biblical Redeemer effectually saving His own.

At the inauguration of His ministry, Jesus used the word "repent". His last word to the churches in apostasy is repent (Rev 3:19). Modern Christendom is adrift with a shallow believe-ism partially because it has neglected the call to repent. What was once sin is now a life-choice. Children are led to repeat a sinner's prayer and believe, while knowing nothing of repentance. Let us repent and believe the Gospel.

My Righteous Servant Shall Justify Many

At the appointed time, Jesus laid down the tools of the carpenter shop, kissed His mother bye, closed the door and left His hillside-home in Nazareth going to the valley to find John the Baptist. Saying, "it becomes us to fulfill righteousness", Jesus brought prophesy and history, time and eternity together. He moved toward establishing righteousness by which God justified His elect at the Cross.

A Revealing Saying of the Savior

At the tender age of twelve years, Jesus confounded the minds of the learned doctors of the Law in the Temple. On that occasion, He alarmed His parents and made a great declaration. When you read the text, know there is no word for "business" and none following "Father's". What did He mean? This message will explore the Lord's intentions by comparing Scripture with Scripture.
