Expect the Unexpected

In this sermon, Mr. Roten takes us through the book of Acts and the missionary journeys of Paul. In doing so, he shows how, time after time, Paul faced surprises. Dealing with the unexpected became normal for Paul. But, in each case, what often looked bad and glum was proven to be an unexpected blessing from God, who works all things according to the counsel of His will.

The Unknown God

When Paul was in Athens waiting for his friends, he was provoked and stirred to jealousy for the glory of God as he beheld the city full of idols. Do we have the same jealousy? Do we long to see God glorified and to receive the worship He is due?

Praying for Missionaries

It takes a missionary to know how to pray for other missionaries. Danny Roten was a missionary for 30 plus years to Mexico, and he knows firsthand the struggles, challenges, and pressures that a missionary faces on the field. He shares with us 17 different areas of need -- areas for which we can and should pray for our missionaries. Many of our prayers for missionaries are general and lacking in specificity. This message will greatly assist you in your prayer life.

Expect Great Things from God

There was a time when Baptists were not so concerned about bringing the gospel to the ends of the earth. A young preacher named William Carey was used by God to change that. This is a biographical sketch of the way in which God stirred up Carey's heart to see the need for the gospel to be proclaimed in foreign lands and for the salt to be scattered, not lie in a heap in England. Though he faced opposition, he did not waver and he pressed on, all the way to India. He became the "father of the modern missionary movement." You will be blessed as you hear the way God stirred up His people to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.

In this first message of the missions conference, Mr. Roten demonstrates from Isaiah 24 that God always intended for the gospel to cover the earth and reach from east to west and to the uttermost parts of the earth. What Isaiah saw was a glorious vision of God's glory filling the whole earth.
