Biblical interpretation is often overlooked in the translation debate. But, the reality is, it is of vast importance.

Translations - Past, Present, and Future

First, a look at John 7:53–8:11, the "Pericope de Adultera" something I forgot to mention last week when discussing manuscript variants This is followed with a look at why translations are necessary past, present and future. The focus here is English because that is and even though our text does not have anything to do with translations or whether we use the King James Version or not (Paul is writing about tongues). However in this writing, we have a principle that applies to Bible translation - that is without good translation there can be no edification. And there is good reason for the continued work of translation.

An overview of the manuscripts, textual variants, and textual criticism including variations in the Textus Receptus and a look at some of the footnotes in the KJV 1611 along with some of the differences between the KJV and the modern versions. Bottom line is we can trust that God's Word has been preserved!

Bible Languages and Materials

We are blessed to have a copy of God's Word in our (English language) in a nicely bound format. But it was not always that way. It's hard to imagine but the Bible was not originally written in any form of English (not even the Elizabethan English of the 1600s) and His Word was not originally on paper! The history is fascinating and we are thankful for it!

The Bible was given by God without error. In this 2nd message in the series, Pastor David Green examines what this means...and what it does not mean with quotes from some early Baptists as well as some insights from the King James translators themselves!

The first message in the series on the history of the Bible begins with God. It is His Word, it is a revelation from God. All Scripture is inspired of God, or more literally, God-breathed.
