Luke 8:41,42-49-56There were many who came to Jesus because he was a celebrity. They believed in him but because they were curious as to what he would do in today's lesson Jesus had stilled the storm had cast demons from those possessed and they had witnessed his power to cast out demons. Many of the people were afraid of what Jesus had done they were afraid of the one who cast out those demons. It's easier to live with sin than it is to rid ourselves of it. The idea of living a righteous life and following Christ is more frightening than living a life filled without sin and controlled by Satan. Jairus needed his daughter to be healed from death and upon arriving at the house Jesus was met with a crowd of mourners. But Jesus only asked Peter James and John along with the mother and the father of the girl to go in with him. He knew what he was going to do. He was going to raise this girl from the dead and he did not need a lot of ridicule and negative thoughts. Faith is a powerful instrument and so is unbelief. Jesus had the power to raise Jairus's daughter to life. The doctors could not help them, the priest could not help them, money could not help him. Only Jesus could! We don't know what the parents were thinking but they knew that Jesus was their only hope and their faith and trust were in Jesus. Have you allowed Jesus to do mighty works in your life. Luke 23:33-56;Luke 24:1-6 The birth and death of Jesus had been foretold for thousands of years. The world was looking for a Messiah. Even though scripture was filled with prophecy about him, most of the world did not recognize him. They wanted a powerful figure. Instead, they saw a man who told them how to live before God. He offered eternal life. The world chose to kill him because of the message he preached. We know that it was god's plan for Jesus to die for our sins. Because of his love for us, God sent Jesus to die for us.Jesus took the sins of the whole world to the cross and paid for them there. What does this mean to you today? You don't have to die for your own sins. Jesus did that for you. He suffered a horrible death because of sin, but that wasn't the end for Jesus.The empty tomb is as real as the cross. Jesus was buried in that tomb, but it also was there that he rose from the dead. His resurrection is important to us because Jesus said that we shall be like him. Because he defeated sin and death, we can, too. Every day they moved them from place to place to ensure that there was plenty of grass to feed them. Every night they stood watch over them. As far as the shepherds were concerned, there was nothing unusual about the night Jesus was born that is, until an Angel appeared to them and a great light shone upon them.The shepherds found the savior that night just as the Angel told them. Everything the Angel said was true, and this good news was for all people. The savior came into the world not for just a select few. He came just as much for the people of today as he did for those shepherds of long ago. Luke 2:39-52 How Important it is to live for Christ, after salvation when rescued.When Jesus was 12 years old, he went with his mother and Joseph to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover feast. The first night of their journey home, his parents could not find him. After days of searching, they found Jesus in the city discussing the things of God with the teachers of the temple. When questioned, Jesus answered, "wist ye not that I must be about my father's business? Luke 2; 4). No doubt, growing up in the city of Nazareth was quite an adventure for Jesus. His life was no different than any other boy of the time period he would have played games with other children, done his chores, helped care for his younger brothers and sisters and listen to the stories of the elders of the city. Jesus would have learned the trade of Joseph. . Jesus has always been our example to follow we are to pattern our lives after his. As a child, Jesus obeyed his parents.
