Message from Psalm 25

Pastor Mike preached from Psalm 25 on Sunday January 25, 2026 when we were snowed in. This sermon, drawn from Psalm 25:1–10, presents a profound meditation on the dynamic, ongoing nature of faith as a lived pursuit of God's truth, goodness, and faithfulness. Centered on David's heartfelt petitions—'Make me know your ways, teach me your paths, lead me in your truth'—the message emphasizes that genuine trust in God is not static but requires continual surrender, humility, and dependence on divine revelation through Scripture. The preacher underscores that spiritual growth is cultivated not by human effort alone, but by God's sovereign work in the heart, revealed through His Word, the Holy Spirit, and the discipline of trials, all aimed at transforming believers into Christlikeness. Rooted in the conviction that sanctification is a lifelong process of being 'stirred up' by truth, the sermon calls for a sustained hunger for God's Word, a rejection of spiritual complacency, and a commitment to biblical teaching that equips believers to discern truth and grow from spiritual infancy to maturity. Ultimately, the psalm's cry for divine guidance and mercy reflects the believer's confident hope in God's steadfast love and the promise of salvation secured in Christ.

Bro. George Hutchings joins us once again at Antioch and preaches on his favorite verse Isaiah 40:31. Bro. George had a stroke less then a couple of weeks after he gave this sermon and is recovering as of this writing. The sermon centers on the Christian life as a divine battle requiring faith, perseverance, and reliance on God's providence, illustrated through the preacher's personal journey from military service and personal failure to spiritual renewal and ministry. Drawing from Revelation 12 and Isaiah 40:31, it emphasizes that believers overcome spiritual warfare through the blood of the Lamb, the word of their testimony, and a willingness to sacrifice, all grounded in trusting God's sovereign timing and presence. The narrative weaves personal trials—including moral failure, mental breakdown, physical injury, and near-death experiences—with divine intervention, demonstrating how God's unseen hand guides and sustains even in weakness. The message calls listeners to embrace a cornerstone verse for strength in despair, affirming that God's providence, not miraculous spectacle, is the ongoing reality of His care. Ultimately, the sermon affirms that every believer, regardless of past or present frailty, is called to walk in faith, knowing God has already prepared the way.

In The Shadow of The Cross

Pastor Mike preaches on the Incarnation on December 14, 2025. This sermon centers on the profound truth that Jesus' incarnation was not merely a historical birth but a divine act of redemption unfolding in the shadow of the cross, fulfilling God's promise to condemn sin and liberate humanity from the law's condemnation. Drawing from Romans 8:1–4, Hebrews 2, and other key passages, it emphasizes that the law, though holy and necessary, could not empower obedience due to human weakness, leaving all under sin's guilt and death's bondage. In contrast, God sent His Son in the likeness of sinful flesh—not to inherit sin, but to condemn it through His sacrificial death, thereby fulfilling the law's righteous demands in those who walk by the Spirit. This victory over sin and death, secured by Christ's humiliation and resurrection, brings believers not only justification but the indwelling Spirit, transforming them into new creations who now live in freedom, joy, and faith, no longer under accusation but secure in Christ. The message culminates in the assurance that because God did not spare His Son, He will freely give all things to those in Christ, making the gospel—centered on Christ's person and work—the ultimate and sufficient revelation of God's love and power.

God Had a Plan

Pastor Mike preached from Luke 1:26-38 on the Incarnation on December 7, 2025. The sermon centers on the divine orchestration of God's redemptive plan, revealed through the incarnation of Jesus Christ as foretold in Scripture and fulfilled in the annunciation to Mary. It emphasizes that God's purpose, established before creation, unfolds through faithful individuals—Mary, Joseph, Zechariah, and Elizabeth—who respond in humble obedience despite fear and uncertainty. The narrative highlights the theological significance of Jesus as the promised Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, fulfilling Old Testament prophecies such as Isaiah's Emmanuel and the Davidic covenant, while affirming His role as Savior, King, and eternal sovereign. The message calls listeners to embrace this divine plan through faith, repentance, and surrender, trusting in God's sovereignty and grace amid life's trials, and finding peace, joy, and hope in Christ's presence and promise.

Pastor Mike preached from Matthew 1:1-17 on November 30, 2025. This sermon centers on Matthew's genealogy of Jesus as a profound declaration of divine sovereignty and grace, revealing Christ as the promised King, Son of David, and true heir of Abraham. By highlighting Gentile women like Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba within the lineage, the preacher emphasizes that God's redemptive plan transcends ethnic and moral boundaries, underscoring grace as the unifying thread through history. The structure of the genealogy—divided into three sets of fourteen generations—symbolizes God's faithful fulfillment of covenant promises: from Abraham's call to the establishment of God's people, from David's kingdom to the exile, and from exile to the arrival of the Messiah. Jesus is presented not merely as a historical figure but as the eternal King, Prophet, and High Priest who fulfills all Old Testament types and covenants, establishing a new covenant sealed by His blood, which brings forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life to all who believe. The message calls the church to recognize Christ's present kingship, live in submission to Him, and participate in His global mission, trusting that God remains faithful to His word across every generation.

A Thanksgiving Prayer

Pastor Mike gave his Thanksgiving message for 2025. This sermon, rooted in Philippians 1:1–11, presents a profound meditation on the nature of faithful intercession, divine perseverance, and the transformative power of prayer within the body of Christ. Centered on Paul's heartfelt thanksgiving and consistent prayer for the Philippian church, the message highlights the joy found in spiritual partnership, the assurance of God's ongoing work in believers, and the necessity of humility, unity, and discernment in Christian life. The preacher emphasizes that prayer is not merely a ritual but a vital, ongoing communion with God that shapes character, fosters love, and sustains hope amid suffering. Drawing from Paul's imprisonment and his deep affection for the Philippians, the sermon underscores that true spiritual maturity is marked by love that abounds with knowledge and discernment, leading to purity and blamelessness for the day of Christ. Ultimately, the prayer of the believer is not only for others' growth but for the glory of God, whose grace transforms lives and prepares His people to shine as crown jewels in the eternal display of His mercy and righteousness.

Put on Christ

Landon Green, who has been called to the Gospel Ministry and has attended Antioch all of his life, returns to the Antioch pulpit with a message from Romans 1. This sermon centers on the transformative power and universal necessity of the Gospel, presenting it as the divine revelation of God's righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ, accessible to all—Jew and Gentile alike. It emphasizes that the knowledge of God is innate in humanity, evident in creation and conscience, yet suppressed by unrighteousness, leading to spiritual darkness and moral decay. The message calls believers to daily discipleship—denying self, taking up the cross, and living by faith and Scripture—while warning against the dangers of spiritual complacency, false teachings, and the deceptive allure of worldly pursuits that jeopardize eternal salvation. Ultimately, it affirms that true joy and purpose are found not in comparison or self-fulfillment, but in a personal, ongoing relationship with God through Christ, sustained by the Holy Spirit and grounded in the unchanging truth of Scripture.

Pastor Mike gave a children's sermon on 10/26/25. This sermon centers on the profound truth that humanity, separated from God by sin, cannot bridge the gap through moral effort or religious performance, no matter how hard one tries. Drawing on vivid imagery of magnets repelling each other, it illustrates how sin creates an unbridgeable divide between holy God and sinful humanity, emphasizing that no amount of personal righteousness can satisfy divine holiness. The message pivots on the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, who lived a perfect life, fulfilled the law, and bore the penalty of sin through His sacrificial death, making reconciliation possible only through His blood. The sermon underscores that salvation is not earned by human merit but received by grace through faith in Christ alone, who stands as the sole mediator between God and humanity. It calls listeners—especially children and adults alike—to recognize their need for Christ and to place their hope entirely in His finished work on the cross.

What is Your Testimony? : 3 John

Pastor Mike preached from the Epistle of 3 John on Christians having a good testimony and made some remarks on Voddie Baucham Jr who had just passed away. This sermon, drawn from the brief epistle of 3 John, centers on the enduring call to live a life marked by authentic faith, truth, and selfless love, as exemplified by the believer Gaius, contrasted with the prideful and divisive Diotrephes, and affirmed in the commendable character of Demetrius. The preacher emphasizes that true Christian testimony is not merely verbal profession but a daily walk in the truth of Scripture, demonstrated through generous hospitality, humility, and integrity—qualities that reflect the transforming work of the Holy Spirit. Through vivid personal anecdotes and biblical reflection, the message calls believers to examine their hearts, reject self-exaltation and division, and emulate those whose lives bear a consistent, God-honoring witness, knowing that such testimony is both a privilege and a responsibility in a world that watches for the light of Christ. The summary captures the central message, key themes (truth, love, testimony, emulation), tone (pastoral, convicting, encouraging), and theological depth while remaining concise and faithful to the transcript's intent.

Pastor Mike preached on the Epistle of 2 John. This sermon centers on the enduring truth of God's Word as the foundation of Christian faith, life, and love, drawing from the Epistle of 2 John's urgent call to abide in Christ's teaching and reject false doctrines. It emphasizes that truth is not merely intellectual assent but a living reality rooted in Christ, who is the embodiment of truth, and is expressed through obedient love, joy, and discernment. The preacher underscores the necessity of biblical fidelity, warning against deceptive teachings—such as those found in Mormonism and popular books like The Shack—that distort the person and work of Christ, while affirming that true discipleship requires both personal commitment and communal accountability. The joy of walking in truth is deepened by fellowship, the promise of eternal security in God's unchanging Word, and the desire for face-to-face communion, reflecting the unity Christ prayed for in John 17. Ultimately, the message calls believers to live in the liberating freedom of truth, grounded in Scripture, sustained by grace, and marked by love and joy.

Matt Anthony, Director of Staff Development at NEU Church Planting in Providence RI and a son of our Pastor Mike Anthony shares a message on knowing who God is from Exodus 34:5-7. The sermon explores the nature of God as revealed through Moses' encounter with divine glory, contrasting it with the deceptive allure of false authority. Drawing from Exodus 34, it emphasizes God's character—merciful, gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love—and highlights the importance of knowing God intimately rather than merely knowing about Him. The speaker recounts personal experiences of settling into a new community and supporting a church planter, illustrating how encountering God's presence and proclamation empowers believers to trust Him, worship Him, and boldly proclaim His truth, ultimately finding confidence and assurance in a God who actively reveals Himself.

Pastor Mike preaches on the Fall of Man this morning. Genesis 3:6-9 Where are you Adam? If you are told that you are an animal long enough, you may well act like an animal. What is the answer to all of this? Gender and sexuality issues Adam was running from God. Adam was afraid and so he ran from God His Condition. One rule, you can't eat from this bush in the garden. Since the fall, there has been a laziness in man, a resistance to working. Its the condition of all of us. Fearful of the presence of the Lord God Of the judgement of the Lord God. Fallen In relationship to the Lord God In relationship to each other In relationship to creation Fatal When the Lord kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden, that was an act of judgement and an act of grace. Abel was a righteous man Death has come to all mankind His conscience. Awakened to his nakedness sin Weakness. Need humiliation Aware of his guilt before God Sin is ultimately rebellion against God. Each of us has a rebel's heart His covering. Man's effort in insufficient No self effort No ritual No self-righteousness THE NEED FOR A substitute One that is innocent. One that is pure The need of a sacrifice A blood sacrifice. Death must be met by death. God was in Christ Jesus reconciling them to himself.

Jesus Heals a Woman: Luke 8:40-56

This sermon centers on the transformative power of faith in Jesus Christ, illustrated through the stories of unnamed women in Scripture—Samson's mother, Hannah, Ruth, and the woman with the issue of blood—each representing different forms of human need and divine intervention. It emphasizes that true healing and fulfillment come not through human effort or external solutions, but through desperate, faith-filled reliance on Christ, who alone meets every spiritual and physical need. The narrative of the woman with the chronic illness highlights how faith, even in quiet desperation, touches the power of God and results in complete restoration, both bodily and spiritually. The preacher underscores the Holy Spirit's role in convicting individuals of sin and leading them to Christ, drawing a parallel between the law's function and the gospel's grace, and calls listeners to abandon all false sources of security in favor of trusting solely in Jesus. Ultimately, the message is a pastoral invitation to recognize one's deep need, reach out in faith, and experience the peace, forgiveness, and eternal hope found only in Christ.

Pastor Mike preached on The Promises In The Resurrection from 1 Corinthians 15:12-58. This sermon centers on the profound implications of Jesus' resurrection, emphasizing that it is the cornerstone of the gospel and the ultimate hope for believers. It argues that the resurrection isn't merely a historical event but a guarantee of our own future resurrection, transforming our understanding of life, death, and sin. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 15, the message underscores the importance of faith in Jesus as the only path to salvation, highlighting how his resurrection overcomes death and sin, offering a future of glory and eternal life for those united with him.

Special Message by Phil Schwerdtfeger

The sermon emphasizes the importance of complete obedience and attention to God's will, drawing parallels to the story of Naaman and Gehazi to illustrate the consequences of partial commitment and dishonesty. It underscores the need for Christians to give their all to God, recognizing Him as the ultimate authority and seeking His guidance in all aspects of life, rather than delaying dedication or seeking personal gain. The message ultimately calls for immediate rededication and a willingness to surrender to God's purpose, recognizing that true faith involves a total commitment and a rejection of self-serving actions.
