Preparation for The Promise is a series about the Book of Numbers.God is always pointing us somewhere, but sometimes it isn’t always clear where he’s pointing us. As we wait for his direction, God will shape us and teach us how to trust him. However, the danger of waiting is that during that time we can grow restless, frustrated, and even disobedient. The book of Numbers is a great reminder to keep our eyes focused on God while we wait “in the wilderness” for God to fulfill his promises. God establishes the tabernacle at the center of the camp, thus establishing worship as the center of the Israelites. If God is not the center of all that we do, we will fail to worship him as we are called to do. We must strive to take seriously God’s expectation to worship him fully. The Israelites waited for God to lead them out into the wilderness. We have to learn to fully trust God’s promise to lead us, which means that we stay put when he calls us to and we move along when he prompts us to go.

Jehovah Expects Numbers 32:20-32The Lord expects his people to keep their promises and commitments. There are many temptations out there that Satan wants to use to distract us. He makes no bones about it that he is out to destroy our lives. Beloved, don't let him do it. God help us all to not be distracted by Satan's traps. Understand this truth that he is very real and he wants to destroy you.Fatigue can distract us from doing what God wants us to do. If you need rest, get it. We become more easily distracted when we are weak and need rest. It is hard to concentrate when you are tired. Get some rest, but don't quit what God wants you to do.The wrong crowd has a powerful influence upon people. They can be very distracting in our quest to do God's will. Never underestimate the power of peer pressure. Be careful about the friends that you choose and spend your time. Avoid critical, carnal people as your close friends. When God's word is choked out of our lives and we are distracted from doing what God wants us to do, we become unfruitful. One of the blessing of being a Christ follower is knowing God always keeps His word.

Jehovah Commissions Numbers 27:12-23 The value of mentoring future leaders and investing in the next generations is important for the future. It takes time, patience, and grace. There is no greater joy than seeing someone reach his or her potential and moving forward for Christ.Moses was now 120 years old and the time had come for him to move off the scene. He had led the people of Israel faithfully for forty years bearing their burdens, sharing their victories, and teaching them God's laws. God and Moses communed with each other as friend with friend, and the Lord didn't hide anything from His servant.Joshua was the man God chose to take Moses' place, for Joshua had worked closely with Moses since the nation left Egypt. He led the Jewish army in defeating the Amalekites, and he ministered as Moses' servant, even going up Sinai with Moses when God gave the law. All followers of Christ should actively listen for His call, knowing the Lord works through those who are available and willing to follow Him wherever He may lead.

Jehovah Calls. Numbers 22:22-35 Jehovah calls His followers to represent Him and His purposes in this world. The third encounter of Balaam with God aroused the anger of God. This is the story of Balaam and the donkey, a story that reveals the anger of God over greed. Simply stated, God used the donkey as a sign of His anger against the greed of this false prophet. God used the donkey as a warning of judgment if the false prophet did not do exactly what God instructed. This is a dramatic lesson that shows God's anger and displeasure with the world of the occult. God stands opposed to any false prophet, diviner, sorcerer, psychic, palm-reader, fortune-teller, or astrologer. God is angry with any person who uses the fears and hopes of people to gain profit or money. In baseball, batters who get three strikes are out. In these verses, we see Balaam get three chances to follow God's will. listen for God's attempts to communicate with Balaam and Balaams choices to run ahead of God's directions.God provides boundaries designed to keep us within His will.God can communicate to humans through whatever means He chooses. As humble servants of God, His people must be careful to present God's clear message to others regardless of the cost.As humble servants of God, we represent Him when we declare His truth. It is His message we speak, and speaking God's truth is a privilege—one of the greatest privileges granted by the heavenly Father. As a result, the message should be delivered as God gave it, without compromise.

Jehovah Saves_04 Matt. 1:18-25; Num. 21:6-9 Jesus came to earth for the purpose of saving all people who turn to Him.Believers demonstrate their faith in God through obedient action, just like Joseph. God has given His Word as a guide for faithful living. By doing what the Bible commands, believers join hands with Joseph and countless others in fulfilling God's purposes here on earth. Most families have a Christmas tradition. It may be the timing of pulling out the decorations. For others, it might be about who reads the Christmas story and when they do that. For many families, it just wouldn't be Christmas without that special ornament, activity, or way of doing things. Our celebration of Christmas would not be the same without the cross. Jesus was born with a purpose, and that purpose included Calvary. Why did God use a model of a serpent—the very creature that killed the people? Because on the cross, Jesus became sin—the very thing that condemns people. This Christmas, receive the greatest gift of all—Jesus, the One who saves people eternally from their sins.

Jehovah Requires_03 Numbers 20:1-13; Ex. 17:1-7 God requires the leaders of His people to follow Him fully.Successful leaders hold themselves accountable, mindful of those who follow them. They don't want to do anything to disqualify themselves as leaders. This is true also of Christian leaders.Effective spiritual leaders act in a way that honors God and benefits people. Unfortunately, even the best leaders can lose their focus and make costly mistakes.Moses and Aaron lose sight of God's authority and act irrationally; God punishes this by not letting them leave the wilderness.Being unable to control our anger or to handle criticism can affect God's future plans for us.Difficulties either bring out the best in people or the worst; they either mature us or make us more childish. Israel's words and attitudes revealed clearly that their hearts were still in Egypt. What a picture of the professed Christian who still loves the world and turns to the world for help whenever there's a problem!"

Jehovah Judges_02 Numbers 14:5-19 This section of Numbers deals with refusing to trust God and His promises leads to Judgment. When the Israelites looked toward the promised land, they saw obstacles that so overwhelmed them that they refused to follow God's leading, and because of this, they faced God's judgment.Joshua and Caleb focused on God's presence and protection going with them into the land. In contrast, the Israelites focused on the powerful people who inhabited the land.Make time for your faith everyday.Block out distraction using the the word of of God and Gospel music.Make Prayer a daily part of your time.Reflect on God.The psalm 95:3 opens with the description of a King so great that He wears light for a robe and has a palace in heaven above the waters. He uses the clouds for His chariot and the winds to move them .Focus on the the Greatness of Our God when things go bad in your day.

Jehovah Leads_01 Numbers 1:1-10; 9:15-23 The Book of Numbers was wrote to get you from bondage to freedom and from freedom to the Promise Land or for all of us today to Heaven.God is always pointing us somewhere, but sometimes it isn't always clear where He's Pointing us.The book of Numbers is a reminder to keep our eyes focused on God while we wait in the wilderness for God to fulfill His promises. In Num. 1:1-10;9:15-16 we see the Presence of Jehovah in the form of a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. In Num. 9:17-19 we see the Practice of Jehovah is waiting with patience and their is times we stop and wait on the Lord.In Num. 9:23 we see the principle of Jehovah which mean we are to obey God and when God says something we are to follow Is leads of clouds and pillars of fire. The cloud of God's presence hovered, settled, rested, dwelt above the Tabernacle. The Hebrew word is shakan or sakan. This was the Shekinah Glory, the very glory of God dwelling in the midst of His people. The Shekinah Glory was the cloud that symbolized God's holy presence. It was the very cloud that had guided Israel out of Egypt and that was to rest upon the Tabernacle as long as His people remained totally obedient to Him.
