Wandered about a bit for the first half hour on that topic, then someone on Twitter completely derailed everything. I was about to discuss my Twitter convo with Brian Zahnd (see below) when I was directed to a video posted on YouTube of Steven Anderson identifying me as a “pervert.” So, we fired it up and found that Anderson was doing damage control. Damage control? Yes, the posting of our conversation showed him to be unable to “trap” the evil, terrible James White, and so he has been doing damage control since then. He goes nuts, literally, yelling and ranting about a “sermon” I preached. He says I was displaying a picture of two men kissing behind me as I preached a wimpy, non-Bible based sermon against gay marriage. And, of course, he used that to rev up his little cult following. Problem is—it’s a lie. During the show folks tracked it down—it was a Sunday School lesson, not a sermon. That was clear to anyone who actually listened to it. It was not a study of a bible passage, it was a useful discussion of how to address the homosexual issue in our society today. There was no display of the picture, I was referencing a blog article I had written, and wrote a URL on the white board. I was asked to address a tweet by Andy Stanley, and I noted that in fact there was a thread that ran through that subject into the Marcionite doctrine of Roger Olson, Brian Zahnd, etc., all those who want to throw the Hebrew Scriptures out and who want to pretend that we can use Jesus as the central aspect of our hermeneutic without realizing Jesus is not presented to us outside of the fulfillment of the very Scriptures they have now jettisoned. Strip Jesus out of the context provided in Holy Scripture and you have theological play dough ready to be formed into whatever shape the modern interpreter wishes. And so that is what we focused on today! Evidently, in Georgia, if you are a Calvinist, you can be accused, on just a hunch, of anything, and it’s OK. That Bible stuff about speaking the truth? That’s for others, evidently. After briefly noting that, I replied to this article by Roger Olson (note especially the last paragraph—God can only be what Roger Olsen imagines Him to be), and then finished up the program getting through 15 of the 30 arguments Ahmed Deedat gives “from the Bible” (talk about stretching language!) against the crucifixion. Spent some time discussing 1 Cor 6:9-11 and the fact that no amount of public pressure and societal regulations can change the tense of the verb ἦτε in that text. Such WERE some of you, not such ARE some of you. Then we moved on to some more evidence of the utter incapacity of Ergun Caner to speak, or in this case, type, truthfully. He recently responded to an email directing him to TurretinFan’s excellent collation of video and audio evidence relating to his claims with this email: Videos edited by hyper Calvinists. Videos uploaded by hyper Calvinists Videos rejected by the rest of us. Let me be clear- I reject your indictment and call you to repent for following liars and frauds. Of course, the first two lines are lies, as anyone can see. Just an amazing example of the deception that Ergun Caner lives in each and every day. Then we played some new material we’ve located from Caner wherein he again makes the claim that his father was a polygamist, and contrasted that with the “excuse sheet” still posted at Norman Geisler’s website, here. Moved on to news in the Islamic apologetics realm, discussing the apostasy of Paul Bilal Williams and a very odd item he posted relating to the Qur’an and the Bible. Our visit was prompted by a phone call made by a Lutheran to Catholic Answers Live back on 10/31/13. We played the entire call before the program started, and we played the heart of the call, where the Roman Catholic priest made the key assertions about canon and scriptural authority, during the interview with Dr. Kruger.
