Jesus as the Savior - Part 2

In Part 2 of this passage, we find the Jews pressing Jesus on His true identity. He answers them straight, but not without exposing their determined posture to disbelieve. In His mercy though, He pleads with them to believe because, as the Savior, He knew "they could if they would".

Jesus as the Shepherd - Part 1

Jesus here is the True Shepherd, the Door Shepherd and the Good Shepherd. The Jewish leaders were deliberately interfering with His redemptive work. So He exposes them as hirelings with selfish motives. The occasion is The Feast of Dedication, which came about when Israel's earlier shepherds had sold out. So the call to His people then, as now, is to exercise good judgment for themselves, because so much is at stake.
